The short version

Scatterbox doesn't ask who you are, doesn't track you, and doesn't show ads. Your boxes are saved on your phone and in your own iCloud. If you turn on notifications, we keep only what's needed to send them, with nothing that identifies you.

Your boxes

The boxes you create (the schools you picked and the names you gave them) are stored on your device and, if you're signed in to iCloud, synced to your other devices through your iCloud account. Apple handles that sync; we can't see it. Notifications aside, your boxes are never sent to us.

Notifications

If you turn on notifications, the app sends our server an anonymous push token (Apple's address for your device), the schools you follow, your notification choices and your time zone, so alerts cover your schools and arrive at sensible times. It's not linked to your name, email or Apple ID. Turning notifications off in Settings or deleting the app stops them; Apple then tells us the token is no longer valid and we delete it.

Feedback

If you send feedback in the app, we receive your message, the topic, what you were looking at (for example, which ranking), the app version, and a random ID used only to prevent spam. If you add an email, we use it only to reply to you.

What the app sends to get scores

To show box scores, the app asks our server for public sports data, such as “Ohio State's NFL players this week.” Like any request on the internet, this reaches our hosting provider with your IP address and basic device information. We use that only to run the service and keep it secure, never to identify or track you, and we don't combine it with other data.

What we don't do

No accounts or sign-in. No analytics or tracking tools. No advertising. We don't sell or share personal information, because we don't collect it.

Children

Scatterbox is a general-audience sports app and isn't directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date above. If the app ever starts collecting anything new, we'll say so here first.
